Tomorrow I'll be 38 weeks. Twice this week I was positive I was in labour but then contractions stopped. I am now over being pregnant. I'm surprised I was okay this long. Today our Sunday School class had a shower for us which was really nice of them considering in the past year we've gone to SS maybe 5 or 6 times. They are such a friendly, giving class to do this for us.

Chad and Kennedy just left for an overnight camping trip with some other dads and their kids. It's only an hour from here so in the event that I'm lucky enough to go in to labour tonight they should be able to get back here pretty quickly. I'm a little nervous that Kennedy might wander off and get kidnapped or eaten by a bear or something but hopefully since she has recently become so afraid of the dark she won't want to leave daddy's side. It's supposed to go down to almost freezing tonight so it'll be an interesting experience for them.

Here are a couple pics of K and P's first haircuts. Parker just got the hair hanging in his eyes trimmed. Despite the many times people refer to him as a girl, we love his hair and don't want to cut it right now. Kennedy had also never had even a trim. She was so upset at the hair place it was traumatizing for everyone in the place. We just got a few inches off of hers, it's still pretty long but it was getting so long it was starting to look like we were part of a cult that didn't believe in cutting hair.

The other night Chad went in to check on Kennedy and found her asleep in one of her princess dresses. She must have gotten up to put it on and gotten back in bed. I was working on a supper for Chad and I after (I thought) the kids were asleep. When Chad got home he went upstairs to change and found Kennedy asleep on the stairs. I had no idea she was down there!

Pregnancy Update

As you can see from my baby countdown, I don't have much time left in this pregnany. Parker was born 3 weeks early so this baby could really be coming any time now, or it might take its time and wait until the middle of December. Who knows. If the number of contractions I've been having is any indication, it will be sooner rather than later.

Overall I'm feeling great. Aside from restless leg and constant night time trips to the bathroom which interfere a great deal with my sleep, I don't have much to complain about. I feel much better in my 9th month then I remember feeling with the Kennedy or Parker. I think it's because it's cooler out.

Kennedy and Parker are so sweet together some times. At least once a day something really cute happens that I mean to share but I always forget. In the car today Kennedy was singing along to her Strawberry Shortcake movie and she turns to Parker, who wasn't singing, and says "come on brother, let's sing some songs". She doesn't usually call him brother. It just struck me as funny.

Pumpkin Patch

I forgot to bring a camera when we went to the Hunter Farm Pumpkin Patch a couple weeks ago. I really wanted to get some pictures of the kids. We went with our preschool homeschool group and one of the other moms sent me some pictures. If it weren't so expensive to go, we'd probably go every day. Kennedy and Parker love the wagon ride, learning how to milk a cow, feeding the animals and playing with the pumpkins.

Pumpkin Patch

On Thursday we went with our preschool homeschooling group to the Pumpkin Patch. For once, it was actually wonderfully cool out which was a nice change. The kids loved playing in the pumpkins, taking the hay ride to learn about milking a cow and then feeding the farm animals. We finished off the morning with a picnic and Kennedy trying to teach her friends (while dancing) a song she learned in Sunday School called God is number one.

My visit with a midwife

We're excited to be planning our third homebirth. I've been seeing a certified nurse midwife every few months just in case something comes up and we need to transfer to a hospital. This CNM is an amazing resource for women in Charlotte who are planning homebirths as she is one of very few in the medical community who will act as a back-up. Anyways, last time I saw her she thought the baby's head was up which at 30 weeks she wasn't worried about but because I worry about everything I've been stressing out about it. I was very excited to see her today and have her confirm that the baby is head down!! I feel so much better about things now. And for further good news I hadn't gained any weight in the past 4.5 weeks.

My dad gave us his chiminea when he moved. For some reason as soon as Kennedy saw it she said "we need marshmallows". I'm not sure where that came from since the only time she's ever roasted marshmallows was at my mom's cottage this summer on a bonfire. Since it finally cooled off a little here recently we decided to make some smores. Neither of them actually leave the marshamallows in there long enough to get them even warm so they're pretty much just eating marshamallows on a stick. They had fun though.

Happy (Canadian) Thanksgiving!

I miss Canada so I'm always excited to be able to bring a little bit of it here by celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving. Today we had two of Chad's coworkers, Erica and Jeneiya, and their families over to have dinner with us.

On Saturday we went up to Boone. Chad tried to take pictures of the kids at Moses Cone Manor on the Blue Ridge Parkway while I went and met someone and the kids weren't being too cooperative.

Kennedy's reaction when asked to smile. They were so sweet and gentle with these horses.

The week before we also tried to get some pictures. These ones I took so they didn't turn out perfectly either but I tried.

I know Kennedy isn't looking in this one but I love it of Chad and Parker.
